Looking for More Publicity for your Real Estate Business?

Check out: Help a Reporter Out!

If you want to be quoted and referenced in the media as a real estate expert, all you have to do is sign up to receive daily email requests for information from reporters who are working on stories about many different topics, including real estate.

The site was put together by Peter Shankman to gather sources for journalists. He originally started his group on Facebook, but it quickly outgrew that platform.

Here’s why this list was developed, “I built this list because a lot of my friends are reporters, and they call me all the time for sources. Rather than go through my contact lists each time, I figured I could push the requests out to people who actually have something to say.”

The topics vary greatly, so although you may not see anything that is real estate-specific on a particular day, you may be surprised to find other business-related or even more personal requests that you can respond to and add value by telling your story to a reporter.

Try it out – it can’t hurt, it’s completely free to add your name to the list, and it just might land your name in print. Who knows when they’ll be looking for someone to comment on the real estate climate in your neighborhood?

The catch? There isn’t one, but they do ask that, “By joining this list, just promise me and yourself that you’ll ask yourself before you send a response: Is this response really on target? Is this response really going to help the journalist, or is this just a BS way for me to get my client in front of the reporter? If you have to think for more than three seconds, chances are, you shouldn’t send the response.”

By looking over the three daily emails, you’ll see the wide variety of topics: Today’s list included this query: “We are looking for commercial/investment real estate news – deals made, exec moves, general news, etc.” But you have to move quickly, many queries have same-day deadlines.

Good luck with www.helpareporter.com!
