This is one of the most fascinating videos I’ve seen in a long time, possibly even this year. If you are a Realtor this is a must watch! You will absolutely learn from the information presented; the question is will you choose to use or ignore it? Enjoy!

I appreciate the presentation but can’t see any value to it. Statistics are everywhere and one can choose to get scared of them, use them to better understand the world or do nothing. This video missed connecting to the audience and lacked any practical application.

What I take from the video is the significant increase in the *speed* of change around not only real estate marketing but business in general.

Any Realtor who expects to be marketing property for more than five years will need to place more focus on representing listing data on mobile phones and separately communicationg via social networks. It’s where Gen X, Gen Y or whatever Gen you want to call the future buyers and sellers of homes will be looking for information (and that includes looking for Realtors).

A lot of the current social media, Facebook and twitter nay sayers are repeating exactly what was said about the Web in the mid 90’s. I agree re: stats being everywhere but these are part of a trend and shouldn’t be taken in isolation. All technology is a fad; it’s only the length of the fad that changes. The question is how to leverage the ‘fads’ that stay for more than 24 months and can also benefit your business.

The stats suggest a significant move towards a future client base that is more technically savvy and interactive (socially). This abs impacts Realtors (no shock news there) but those Realtors that learn and use the new technology first will stand to benefit from it the most.

Step one is acknowledging the transition. Step two is to look at how you currently market and then question how it can evolve to reach this new form of client and prospective client.

This presentation was created and played for our agents at our annual company-wide meeting. Its intent was to stimulate thoughts and encourage our agents to embrace technological change and innovation.

As for the practical application of these thoughts and theories, we are doing it at Avery-Hess in the DC area – we help our agents hands-on incorporate new and social media into their businesses so they can connect with consumers in a variety of different mediums.

In 2007, almost 78% of first time buyers were Generation X’ers. This is the leading edge of tomorrows real estate consumer, and their access of information and communication by utilizing technology will be the driving forces in our Industry. The Real Estate industry has historically been slow to change, the difference now is that change is being forced upon us by the consumers use of technology, which moves at warp speed. Smart companies and smart agents are positioning themselves now to be at the forefront of engaging the consumer as we move forward.

Avery-Hess, Realtors has moved forward by providing consumers a LifeStyle based home search on our web site, text on demand and mobile phone search applications. After deploying consumer applications we then moved to assist our sales associates with communicating to the new consumer in a variety of new mediums. We even created (and just hired) a new position in the company. Our Social Media Editor.

The video was shown at our awards banquet in April to reinforce our strategic vision and plan.
