Now Easier Than Ever for Home Buyers to Share Homes They Love

Santa Clara, CA – Feb. 15, 2017 (PRNewswire) Realtor.com®, a leading provider of online real estate services, operated by News Corp [NASDAQ: NWS, NWSA]; [ASX: NWS, NWSLV] subsidiary Move, Inc., today introduced iMessage support for its realtor.com® iOS mobile app, making it even easier for consumers to discover, customize and share home listings with family and friends without ever leaving the messaging screen on an iPhone. The feature allows consumers to share their thoughts on what they love about the home with reaction stickers.

The app extension makes it even easier for homebuyers to access and share for-sale home listings from the entire realtor.com® database, the most comprehensive source of home listings among competing national apps.

Today’s home buyers, especially millennials who make up the largest home buyer segment, are used to searching and communicating on the go,” said Nate Johnson, chief marketing officer at realtor.com®. “Our iMessage app was designed with this way of communicating in mind, making it simple to share photos, and listing information of for-sale and for-rent homes instantaneously within an iMessage conversation. We’ve made the process even more fun and collaborative by giving users the option to call out what they like about the home by adding reaction stickers.”

NAR App

With the realtor.com® app for iMessage, consumers are able to:

  • Search for home listings they recently viewed and/or saved on the realtor.com® iOS mobile app, and discover properties they happen to be nearby
  • Preview basic information about a home, such as price data, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms and square footage
  • Add a reaction sticker with the phrases “Love It!,” “Let’s go see it!,” “What do you think?,” “Love the kitchen!,” “Nice bathroom!,” or “Has a pool!” to a home listing or a specific photo within a home listing
  • Send off to the recipient as an iMessage

Once a home listing is shared via an iMessage, individuals in the conversation can view basic information about a listing or tap the listing to view more property information in the realtor.com® mobile app. If they do not have the app, they will be prompted to download the app on the App Store.

The realtor.com® app can be download for free on the App Store here, and the realtor.com® app for iMessage is available for download on iOS 10 and above here. Users must enable the realtor.com® app for iMessage through the app drawer in iMessage to use the functionality. Additional reaction stickers will be available in the coming months.

The Sign SnapTM feature, available today, uses image recognition technologies, as well as the smartphone’s camera and GPS capabilities. Users can snap a photo of a real estate for-sale or for-rent sign they happen to be near and the Sign SnapTM feature will search the entire realtor.com® property database, the most comprehensive inventory of for-sale listings among competing national sites, to locate such realtor.com® property. They can view related information for that property such as photos, property details, price data, open house dates and more. Users can share desired listings with family and friends via email, text message and social media.

This spring 2017, realtor.com® plans to roll out its Street PeekTM feature, which lets users pan a neighborhood street and, via augmented reality capabilities, instantaneously surfaces property details about homes on that street and in the realtor.com® database whether or not they are for sale. Simply frame a home or group of homes with the smartphone’s camera and experience a real world view of the environment with information overlays from the realtor.com® database. Information such as the listing or rental price, the recently sold price, estimated value, and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms will be available on the framed properties. Users can tilt the screen to view a map of the neighborhood and access additional perspective on what’s nearby, or tap the displayed info card to obtain more details. Filtering options let users locate specific property types, and users will be able to search their history of street photos and listings previously viewed.

“Finding the perfect home can be a stressful experience. That’s why we are continuing to optimize our mobile experience with first-to-market features that support consumers throughout the home buying process, making it as simple and stress-free as possible,” said Nate Johnson, realtor.com® chief marketing officer. “In a market where actionable information can make all the difference between landing a dream home or losing it, we are empowering consumers with an app that provides quick, accessible property information in the palm of their hands.”

The Sign SnapTM equipped realtor.com® app for Android can be downloaded from the Google Play Store here. Additional features, including Street PeekTM, are scheduled to be available on Android in spring 2017, and iOS availability is scheduled to follow. Both Sign SnapTM and Street PeekTM are patent-pending features of the realtor.com® Android real estate app.

“This next iteration of the Premier Agent App is the result of a year of feedback from agents around what they need to be more efficient and successful in their interactions with clients,” said Greg Schwartz, Zillow Group chief business officer. “Now, agents just need to have one password to one platform to manage all their leads – whether they come from Zillow® or Trulia®, or one of the other many lead sources they may be leveraging. We’ve got more than 25 sources right now, and plan to expand in the coming months.”

In addition to third party leads, the next iteration of the app includes expanded functionality for team leads. Now, team leads will get better insight into lead performance, more control over the assignment of leads, and integration with Premier Agent Concierge. In addition, they can monitor their team’s performance – collectively and by individual. Team leads can also set lead routing rules by price, location, and recipient to quickly deliver incoming leads to the right team members. They can also quickly and easily reassign leads amongst their team directly from the app.

“The new lead broadcast functionality is a game changer for agent responsiveness,” said Schwartz. “Now, when a lead comes in, it can be simultaneously sent to all agents, or a select few, on the team – guaranteeing that all leads are responded to nearly immediately. It’s a great experience for the buyer or seller and incredibly easy for the agents.”

The Premier Agent App is available for free to any real estate professional in the iOS® and Android™ app stores.
