Online Furniture Sales Are Booming

In the early days of e-commerce, people mostly bought products online that were easily packable and shipped. Amazon for example started off selling books, then added CDs and DVDs before eventually starting to sell pretty much everything. No one would have thought of buying furniture online because it would have been outrageously expensive to ship it.

These days, buying furniture online is a fairly common thing. Thanks to significant advancements in logistics, shipping costs for larger items have come down so far that they are often outweighed by potential cost savings and the added choice and convenience of ordering your furniture online.

According to Statista’s Digital Market Outlook, worldwide online furniture and homewares sales are expected to be close to $190 billion. As the following chart illustrates, China and the United States are by far the largest online furniture markets with more than $60 billion in revenue each.
