follr.com Sponsors Virtual REBarcamp

Following this week’s release of the follr.com Website, our sister company Social Gears today announced they are sponsoring the third Virtual REBarcamp, being held nationwide on April 6th.

Social Gears co-founder and CIO, Mark Wayman, stated:

“Having announced the release of the follr.com Website it seemed only natural that we support this great educational platform, especially off the back of AgencyLogic’s support for the first two virtual REBarcamp events.

Real estate, more than any other industry, is actively engaged in learning about and using many social tools. As a result, Realtors stand head and shoulders above others in business when it comes to appreciating the benefits of a free social business card.”

The follr.com social card is a new business tool, a card for the world we live in today. The product is a free Website that combines all online social activity streams and contact information into one easy contact solution. It additionally helps corporations protect their brands by leveraging follr.com’s corporate governance reporting functionality. Realtors will also be able to choose from either rlty.me or rlty.us domains when they promote their social touch points and services.

REBarcamp, an educational seminar often referred to as a ‘non-conference’, exploded in 2009. Anyone involved in real estate can attend an event to learn about social media, marketing and hear commentary about many other industry specific subjects from some of the best thought leaders in the industry. The Virtual REBarcamp takes the concept a step further by providing a nationwide event where attendees can participate from the comfort of their home or office.

If you haven’t already registered you should. Why?

  • It’s free
  • You have access to amazing speakers
  • You don’t have to travel (it’s virtual!)
  • It’s provides amazing educational content
  • It’s free (that’s worth repeating)
  • Stats from the last event will help you realize what you are missing if you opt out on this:

    1. Number of Registered Attendees: 2,648
    2. Number of Presentations: 28
    3. Hours of Live Content: 21

    Google For Real Estate Professionals

Stephen M. FellsI’ve just spent the last three days at RE Barcamp NYC and the Inman Connect Conference held in Times Square, NYC. One of the more interesting sessions was with Google’s own Sam Sebastian who is their Director of Local & B2B (business to business) Markets. One of Brad Inman’s observations was that despite the brand awareness of companies like Zillow and Trulia, Craigslist and Google top the list when it comes to online real estate activity and listing research.

We’ve detailed all of the real estate benefits from Google before but a new one (to me) that Sebastian mentioned was “Google for real estate professionals.”

    Google For Real Estate Professionals

This small but useful section of the Google Website can be found at:

    http://www.google.com/realestatetools

The ‘mini site’ highlights several Google products that:

“make[] it easier for real estate professionals to connect with home buyers and renters at every stage – while they’re looking for properties, checking out locations and selecting their agent”

It’s missing some resources like Google Place Pages and Google Goggles but still has some great information specifically aimed at helping Realtors. As always I’ll be covering some of the other commentary and products from the events over the next few weeks.

    2010. Game On!

Stephen M. FellsHappy New Year! I’m sure many in real estate are hoping this year will be a significant improvement on last and today offers a great way to start things in the right direction. It’s time to get busy!

As recently reported in the October edition of RISMedia’s Real Estate magazine:

“In the 2009 Member Survey conducted by the Stark County Association of Realtors, 78% of Realtors agreed that real estate education was “important” or “very important” to their businesses.”

    The article adds:

“Sadly, though, with agents making 14% less money than last year, according to the NAR 2009 Member Profile, many agents are postponing additional skill-building and education”

The article continues to detail the benefits of no-cost training with Melody Bohl, broker/owner of Carpe Diem Realty in Newton, MA pointing out “Agents look at the price of training and balk, thinking about where else they could spend that money instead. What they don’t realize is that the training they invest in today is the reason they will make more money tomorrow. You have to invest in yourself.”

On that note today is your lucky day! The second Virtual RE Barcamp (an event AgencyLogic is proud to sponsor) runs all day and brings together 28 of the most respected presenters, leaders and educaters in real estate. It’s free, it’s Web based (so you can get involved from the comfort of your office or home) and it’s free (worth two mentions).
