I recently blogged about the need for original and creative marketing and continuing that message want to highlight a great example: Jib Jab.

Yesterday was my (cough) 39th birthday (again) and a ‘friend’ sent me the following video to mark the occasion:

I can laugh at myself and so thought it was hilarious. Jib Jab has been around for a few years and is best known for their political cartoons:

One of their initial (and arguably most popular) successes is the “Elf Yourself” ‘web card’ which gets me to my original point. Anyone can upload up to five ‘elves’ and create a holiday themed card that is original and funny and free. As a result the Jib Jab service is a great way for a Realtor or real estate office to pass on seasons greetings in a memorable way.

I’ve not been quiet about my loathing of magnets, calendars and other common cheap gifts sent by way too many Realtors especially at this time of the year. It’s part of the reason why I love the alternative Jib Jab offers. By making their product personal it’s also a great way to make your clients laugh (albeit at your expense) and to remember you for something different. It’s highly likely that they will create their own Jib Jab videos and will tell their friends that they heard about the service from their Realtor. The following is an example ‘Elf Yourself’ video:

In addition to birthday and Christmas themes they offer multiple other category’s. And even if you don’t think the content is appropriate for clients I’m sure you will still have some fun playing with the software. Please let me know if you do create a video, I’d love to post the best ones here 🙂
