Most brokers I have spoken to this year consistently answer the “How are things in your market?” question with a singular answer; “I couldn’t be happier! This has been our best year ever!” I have to confess (not so) secretly questioning that statement but if it’s true “well done!” Unfortunately, I suspect they are in the minority and a recent survey released by Curbed seems to confirm that.

The “Real Estate Confidence Index” is described as:

“a survey of brokers across the U.S. and Canada about how they feel about current and future market conditions”

and in September there was an 8% drop. This prompted Curbed to suggest Brokers may not be as happy as they would have us believe “especially since the expiration of the homebuyers’ tax credit.”

Point 2 has broken the survey results down by state using a scale of 1 to 10; 1 represents the end of the world and 10 represents Realtors partying like its 2007:
