London’s Abandoned Warehouses Are Being Transformed Into Giant Living Spaces For Artists

Property Guardianship has become a popular way to live cheaply in London. It allows people to rent buildings that are abandoned and about to be developed. These buildings are often warehouses or commercial spaces, and some even come with photography studios and music studios.

Property Guardian Protection is one of the companies renting out these spaces. The company installs kitchens, toilets, and fire alarms in each building. Reception rooms and Wi-Fi are also installed and bills are all included in the agreement.

Guardians sign a license agreement rather than a tenancy, which has a 28-day notice period. When the building is eventually developed the guardians have to move. Guardians are given priority on new spaces when this happens.

3 Bedroom House for Sale (Ideal for Anthropologist…) ;)

Located within Bristol (UK) Zoo this “large family home” is described as:

“steeped in history and is set within its own private island of approximately one acre. Situated in the North East of the zoo, the property has an unusual combination of neighbours including lemurs, penguins and pygmy hippos, all of whom form a strong community spirit resulting in low crime rates.”

Is this real? It would seem so if you believe UK based real estate portal Rightmove.

They add:

“The area boasts an extensive array of natural features and climbing facilities, and [] teachs your children how to forage for food and to watch them play with their friends. The island is also protected by a moat”

And here are the photos (descriptions there’s not ours….) I wonder if Jane Goodall is looking to move? 😉
