Ahoy! It’s Facebook Fun (And a Great Prank!)

Did you know you can change the default language that Facebook displays? As you might guess there is obviously English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and many other languages but did you know there is also pirate and upside down?!

To change the default language a facebook account displays follow these steps 😉

1. Click on the inverted triangle and then ‘Settings’ in the top right of the screen:

Facebook 1

2. Click ‘Language’ and you will see the ‘Language Settings’ page. Click ‘Edit’ to the right of the top section titled “What language do you want to use Facebook in?”:

Facebook 2

3. Click the drop down box in the top section under “Show Facebook in this language” and pick any of the languages:

Facebook Explains How Their News Feed Ranking Works

With News Feed ranking, Facebook’s algorithms leverage available signals and make a set of predictions that help us to estimate how meaningful we think every story will be to each person on Facebook. At leas that’s how they explain things.

The question however is, does it work? For many the answer is no and this is made worse by Facebook forcing us to see what they think are ‘Top Stories’. If you want to control what you see there is an option (see: ‘Control What You See on Facebook‘) but note; your Facebook settings will default back to ‘Top Stories’ as soon as you click away.

In the interim at least this video sheds some light on things.
