Which News Sources Do Americans Trust?

During an unprecedented period of scrutiny and criticism, news media outlets in the U.S. are dealing with an increasingly skeptical public. According to a recent survey by Gallup for the Knight Foundation, the American people place the most trust in local newspapers, but even then, only 54 percent say have ‘a lot’ or ‘a fair amount’ of confidence. Often under fire from the president, national network news and major national newspapers have the confidence of only 52 and 51 percent of the population, respectively. Least trusted are news aggregators (38 percent) and internet-only news websites (36 percent).

What Americans Think of Trump’s Tax Plan

It looks like a win for Donald Trump: Congress has passed the GOP tax bill. However, the dampener is that this win isn’t very popular with the American public. According to a poll by Quinnipiac University, the majority disapproves of it (52 percent).

Neither do people think it will create jobs nor boost the economy. A large swath of respondents (61 percent) is convinced the tax reform will profit the rich, while only close to a quarter believe the presidents promise to deliver tax respite to the middle class. Many respondents think the bill either won’t affect them or actually increase their tax burden.
